Actually, the first day of school I didn't wear any makeup but later on in the week when I had the time to put on makeup, I focused on Earthy Tones. I loved the green and brown combination, so I did a subtle look for school and work :)

When I made my “South Pole Vest” I ended up having a lot of extra fabric lying around.. My mother and grandmother always utilized extra fabric after they would sew. So noticing how flower embellishments are such a huge part of the trend these days, I taught myself to make roses from all the extra strips of fabric.
Once Randy supplied me with one of his infamous Tall Tee cut offs, and I turned it into an Asymmetrical top :) It took me a while to taper the sides and get the shirt to really fit, but it gave me time to practice my sewing skills! I decided to let the roses cascade down the top from largest rose, to smallest rose. :)

"The economy is man made, abundance is a natural Gift from the Universe. Tap into this Universal Gift & let man made systems catch up to you."
On a recent trip to Los Angeles, my eyes were open to see how beautiful nature was. I've always been a beach girl, and I've always appreciated the beauty of mother earth, but on this trip I really got to see the life in the tree's, the beach and the water. My cousin Sherilyn mentioned to me that I should include my new appreciation for all things natural on my blog. And it really was a great idea! While on my camping trip I really soaked in my environment, I kept thinking to myself, "everything around me wasn't just created out of no where, all of this is natural" and it was beautiful.
This made me think about women and how beautiful each individual woman really is. Stripped of all the makeup, fancy clothes and accessories we really are beautiful creatures. Sometimes we tend to forget how wonderful we really are, and we focus on things that are so secondary to our being in the world. I feel like we were all given one life, and one of the main purposes on earth is to seek happiness. I never used to believe that happiness was a choice, but now I understand that if we keep our eyes on what truly matters, we can really be successful. If happiness and positivity are out birth right, why waste your life focusing on so many unnecessary things that stress you out? Live your life with open eyes, and appreciate all the blessings around you.
"He who binds to himself a joy, does the winged life destroy; But he who kisses the joy as it flies Lives in eternity's sunrise." William Blake
Once in a while walking around with a natural face, no makeup and smile can be the most encouragement you can give to other women. Help to empower others, set the standard for others to follow their dreams and find courage. Find out who you are and embrace it, live your life knowing that deep down there is peace in your life.
"There is SO MUCH JOY when you are expressing & being yourself. Dont listen to the voices of those who say it cannot be done! Know that it already is!"
Makeup is fun, as long as you wear the makeup, don't let the makeup wear you :)

For this installment of my Fall '09 series, I chose John Galliano from his Paris runway show. The theme of the makeup was Russian Winter-ish, but the theme of the show was inspired from those Russian Matryoshka Dolls, also known as, "Nesting Dolls" where inside each doll is a smaller version of the toy and there are probably a set of 8 dolls that fit inside one another. Galliano's show started out with all his models covered up from head to toe in huge coats and dresses. As the show continued, the layers began to diminish and the fabric on the dresses started to thin, everything becoming more sheer and the accessories chunkier and chunkier... It was Fabulous!
For my look, I followed the pattern that Galliano did for his models, however, half-way through I wanted to change it! lol, I used the right silvers, whites, yellows, blues and lavenders.. But I wanted brighter colors and I thought of feathers for some odd reason. So I feathered each side of my face using all types of blues and purples from my 120 Pro Palette. I just took my Sigma 209 brush and dipped it in the product, and with a little bit of Fix+ the colors became like paint. Hence the brush strokes :)
**DISCLAIMER** This look is not an "everyday look" do not try unless going to a costume party ..

Another installment of my Fall '09 series! This time I was inspired by Akiko Ogawa :) This Japanese designer's line had a lot of elements of blue! The coats Ogawa designed are to die for! I loved the style :) and the makeup was pretty tame, Ogawa used a lot of Pink on the lid, and Blue as an under eye color.
What I wanted to do was switch the colors and do Blue as the primary lid color and Pink as an under eye. This, I thought would give more emphasis on Akiko Ogawa's use of blue in the line. That and my collection of light Pinks are pretty unimpressive lol.
The colors look waay more vibrant live but my camera kind of sucks lol. it's okay though I still like it :)

As a sister company to OPI, China Glaze nail polish has a great consistency and the formula they use allows the polish to glide on smooth and stays on longer than most other polish brands. China Glaze has "Hardeners" built into the formula so that the polish dries faster and cleaner! It's wonderful stuff! but at $5.99 a bottle it's a bit of a stretch to buy a collection of colors, but if you go to http://www.8ty8beauty.com/ you can basically buy the polishes wholesale and get more for your money :)
Also, if you follow my girl Vanessa at Vivaciousmakeup.blogspot.com you'll be able to see her China Glaze Nail Color of the Week (NCOTW) updates, as well as her amazing makeup reviews and all around awesomeness.
I'm going to start trying other brands, I recently put in my order for ZOYA's new matte color polishes and I'll review them when I get the chance :)
So here's a random picture of the China Glaze's "ECollection" I like the majority of these colors so i wanted to showcase lol.

Im sorry I havent been able to post many looks, I've been going through some stuff and I haven't exactly got around to doing any of the looks I've been dying to try out. in time, it'll all get fixed and I can get this blog going again! For now I'll be doing reviews and a ton of random blogging, but once the smoke clears and the issues eventually become water under the bridge, I'll come back :) thanks!

Another Feature, and I'm happy I get to be a part of this website. The creations are AMAZING and the people who participate just ooze of creativity and style! It's humbling to see what people come up with... like I said before, it's Dopage at it's finest :)
This time around i dug through my brother Chesler's Closet-- coming up with an old South Pole tee he never even wore lol. When I saw his tee, I automatically just started cutting it up. I had no direction and no idea initially-- and then my sewing skills came into play. I tapered the top and cut it into a vest. It was super fun!
I did a little sumthin sumthin with the rest of the fabric.. Im just waiting for a generous Sir to supply me with a wonderful white tee that I can destroy and then turn into art :)
Go to Mybfcloset.com to see how trends get set :)

For the third installment of my Fall Fashion Series, I took a look at Alexander McQueen and Jay Mendel's looks, and they both used a prominent red lip. Alexander McQueen used an exaggerated red lip with a pale face, while Jay Mendel used a little bit of a brown shadow with his models. My look leans a lot towards Jay Mendel's look, I used brown shadow because it's a bit more wearable and very classic. Usually when I wear a red lip i don't use any shadow and lean mostly on my black cream liner for the eyes. I like the idea of a downplayed eye with a pop of color on the lips, it makes more of a statement and it completes a clean look.
Jay Mendel
Alexander McQueen (I told you it was exaggerated!)
My look:
The eye's, I kept the shadow light, with many variations of brown. I didn't line the top of my lid because I didnt want too amplify the eyes too much. but I did line the waterline of my bottom lid :)
Now for the Red Lip:
How to get a clean red lip: I started by moisturizing my lips with my regular chap stick. afterward I primed my lips with MAC's prep & prime in medium, you want to do this so that the liner sticks to your lip. Start by lining your lip with a SHARP lip liner, if your liner is too rounded the line will look smudged and messy (we all know what that looks like). I try to fill in the lip with liner before applying the lipstick. This prevents your lipstick from fading and making you look like you only have red lip liner on and no lipstick at the end of the day (unfortunately, we also know what that looks like). When I apply lipstick, I take a lip brush and use it to take product from the lipstick, then apply with the lip brush. It makes the application process a lot cleaner than just using the lipstick alone. After dabbing your lips with tissue, and then re-applying with a lip brush, you're done.
It's more of a process than you think isn't it? That's because it takes work to keep it clean :)

You've seen my Sigma Brush collection, and now I'll introduce you to my palette's. For beginners it's preferable that they start with less expensive makeup. Not necessarily cheap quality makeup, but makeup that you can play with and not worry about wasting any product. I go to Coastalscents.com all the time, looking at new colors and products that might satisfy my makeup kit (and my budget).
This is my 120 Pro Palette.. it's AMAZING :) the colors are very pigmented, and with the price.. it's not a problem when I run out... IF I run out :)
Next is my 28 Neutral Palette. This palette works for basically anybody. There are so many silvers, pinks, browns and whites. The colors are very versatile and good to use on clients.
For my Contour/Blush Palette, there are three different highlight colors, one bronzer and two blushes. This palette allows you to contour many skin tones, it's one of my favorite palette's to use on people. Definitely a must :)
I do have my own personal MAC palette, but im in the the process of filling my second palette, so when I'm done, I'll showcase my MAC shadow collection :)
